Weaving Ancestral Innovation & Whole-Systems Design for Resilience.
At Avalily Permaculture and The Earthskills Institute, we co-create with individuals, families, businesses, and communities, sharing the practical knowledge, skills, and resources needed for self and community-sufficiency. We design integrated human habitats, food systems, and living landscapes and guide you to create and implement truly regenerative strategies—focused on dynamic growth and long-term ecological succession—by respectfully embracing ancestral wisdom, the Earth’s vital feedback, and the deep wisdom of whole-systems stewardship and Earth Care principles.
Our Guiding Philosophy
We are a Euro-Indigenous woman-owned business dedicated to being a beacon of hope and a hub of solutions for a regenerative world. Our foundation is built upon deep respect for all relations and a commitment to Two-Eyed Seeing—the intentional blending of timeless Ancestral Wisdom with modern innovation and science to create truly resilient human habitats and living systems.
This commitment guides us beyond sustainability toward thrivability, where human systems are designed to grow and improve over time, actively enhancing biodiversity and ecological integrity. Our approach is rooted in systems thinking, promoting living soil health, climate resiliency, and robust ecosystem services.
By bridging Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) with scientific integrity, we empower individuals, industry, and communities to reclaim sovereignty and navigate the transition toward regenerative development. We provide the tools to build food sovereignty, master ancient and technical skills, and deepen the innate connection to nature that sustains our well-being for seven generations and beyond.
Simply Put: We guide you through the complexities of land, strategy, and design, empowering you with the knowledge to thrive, achieve community-sufficiency, and actively nourish the health of the Earth for the future.

Our Roots and Commitment
We begin with gratitude, acknowledging that Avalily Permaculture and The Earthskills Institute was founded in (and is currently based out of) the Kootenay region of British Columbia, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, Sinixt, and Syilx peoples.
Our work is born from a deeply personal journey of walking in two worlds, and our mission extends far beyond these mountains. As an Otipemisiwak (Métis) woman of mixed European, Nêhiyaw (Cree), and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) ancestry, our founder is committed to cultural reclamation and bridging. This blended perspective allows us to listen to the wisdom of all ancestors, strengthening the holistic knowledge we share with communities everywhere.
We are not here to execute business transactions; we are here to nurture relationships and build community. We believe that healing the land and healing our human systems are the same work. We are committed to the work required to move our world toward thrivability, delivering our services with the humility of a lifelong learner and the integrity of a good neighbour. Whether local or distant, every project is an invitation to reconnect, to restore, and to walk together in a good way for all our relations.
